About NATHAN (bIO)
TALKTHROUGH is the ministry and work of Nathan Jones. I have spent the last 26 years in various leadership roles within the not for profit, youth work, counselling and faith sector. In 1993 I founded the charity Teens in Crisis (www.ticplus.org.uk) that today provides counselling to over 2000 teenagers a year in Gloucestershire. I was part of the leadership of this charity until the end of 2017 in different capacities (CEO, Chair of Trustees and for a time as the Founding Director). I currently attend occasional trustees meetings by kind invitation of the board as a volunteer in an advisory capacity. I also continue to promote the work of TIC+ wherever I go.
In 2003 I qualified as a clinical and pastoral counsellor (DipCPC) and have extensive experience of counselling young people. Although I no longer work in professional counselling I do use my counselling skills in other pastoral settings.
I have been involved with youth work for 26 years. I served as the Youth Pastor at Forest Gate Church (formally Mitcheldean Christian Fellowship) between 1993-1996. In 1997 I launched and worked in a local project through TIC+ called Action for Youth. In partnership with 6 local communities this project opened six drop in youth café projects supporting as many as 400 young people a week.
From April 2006-Aug 2016 I was part of the leadership of Gorsley Baptist Church in Herefordshire where I led the children's ministry, youth ministry and young adult provision. I was privileged to have a role within the wider leadership of the church and regularly preached at the churches main Sunday services.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to support work within other churches, charities and organisations. More recently I been involved with projects within two C of E Dioceses and church leaderships teams developing leadership, strategy, youth work and inter-generational ministry. I am also involved with a number of charities and initiatives developing resources and exploring ways of expanding mental health provision for young people.
I have extensive experience as a Public Speaker. As well as general preaching I speak on issues around young people, youth ministry, mental health and pastoral care. I have spoken at a number of conferences and organisations including: Youth Work the Conference, Spring Harvest, Soul Survivor, YouthScape, Girls Brigade, various regional Baptist Associations, South West Youth Ministries, Partnership UK and many other conferences and individual churches.
My work within the voluntary and charity sector is varied. I spent a number of years in the 1990s early 2000s as the of Vice Chair and Chair of Citizens Advice in the Forest of Dean as well as member of various committees on behalf of the voluntary sector within local councils.
I live in Herefordshire with my two daughters and attend Gorsley Baptist and Lydbrook Baptist Churches.
I am more than happy to provide references and endorsements for my work upon request.
